Instant Pot Rice

Updated: Mar 28

Making rice is so fast, so simple, and virtually fool-proof when you use an Instant Pot.

Soaking rice has been shown to reduce phytic acid and arsenic levels. It's an easy step that takes just a bit more forethought and almost no added effort. You can start soaking the rice the night before, or in the morning the day you need it.

Using homemade chicken broth in place of water not only adds nutrients, it makes the rice so flavorful and delicious!

Instant Pot Rice

Ingredients-

  • Lukewarm filtered water

  • 2 Tbsp. apple cider vinegar

  • 2 c. long grain white rice

  • 2 c. chicken broth

Directions-

  • Add rice to a bowl and cover with lukewarm water, until it reaches about an inch above the rice.

  • Add apple cider vinegar and mix.

  • Cover and let rest on countertop 8 hours or overnight.

  • When ready to prepare, rinse rice well in fine mesh strainer.

  • Combine rinsed rice and chicken broth in the Instant Pot and seal the lid.

  • Cook using the "Rice" function.

  • When cooking is finished, allow to depressurize naturally for 10 minutes.

  • Quick release the pot and enjoy!

Notes-

  • For truly elevated rice, before adding broth, toast the rinsed rice in some butter or oil using the "Sauté" function on the Instant Pot.

  • You can add seasonings such as herbs, bay leaves, or turmeric to rice for added color and flavor.

  • If you don't have homemade broth, you can use store bought, or you can use plain filtered water.
